NAPLES, Fla. – When giving back is so critical during the current situation around the world, Jozy Altidore has stepped to the plate for the people of Haiti again.
Altidore is partnering with Hope For Haiti – a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for the Haitian people, particularly children – and participating in the group’s “Hike for Haiti Challenge” that runs from April 17 to May 17. The fundraiser was created to help provide students and teachers in Haiti with crucial financial support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Jozy Altidore Foundation will also be matching funds donated to his Team page up to $2,500, meaning all contributions will have double the impact. The donations will be used to directly support 24 communities in Haiti to ensure children can attend school and stay healthy.
To make your donation today, please find Altidore’s Team Page at https://www.classy.org/team/288505.
The Toronto FC and United States Men’s National Team striker was honored to partner with Hope For Haiti, which is based in Altidore’s home state of Florida.
“Growing up with Haitian roots, I’m humbled by the journey and effort these students take to get to class before the textbooks are even opened, and am inspired by their dedication to their education and future,” Altidore said.
“In these times of adversity and social distancing, it is so important to still find ways to virtually stay connected to others in our community, and to stay healthy and active at home.”
This is Hope for Haiti’s second annual Hike for Haiti Challenge, where participants can virtually hike the rural Haitian community of Marre à Coiffe in solidarity with these students whether outside, in their homes or on a step-machine, all while raising funds to support education and public health initiatives across Hope for Haiti partner communities.
“In these times of adversity and social distancing, it is so important to still find ways to virtually stay connected to others in our community, and to stay healthy and active at home,” Altidore said. “I’m excited to be an ambassador for the Hike for Haiti team, and look forward to joining my Hike for Haiti Challenge teammates in sweating for a cause at home.”
