“I may be a young person, but I believe it’s never too early to want to make a difference…The purpose of my work is to make a difference.”

PHILANTHROPY

Jozy’s philanthropic work is focused on providing children across the globe with opportunities to play, grow, and learn. As a proud Haitian-American and father, Jozy’s charitable efforts center around development in Haiti and child-focused health causes including pediatric cancer and autism research.

Jozy believes in growing the global game of soccer, and has created opportunities both in his hometown of Boca Raton and across the world to introduce more youth to the sport. During the 2016 Copa America Centenario, Jozy partnered with the Saint Luke Foundation for Haiti to stream live broadcasts across Haiti of all group-stage matches featuring the U.S. and Haiti, as well as the semifinal and championship games. Jozy has also hosted soccer camps at St. Andrew’s High School in Boca Raton, Florida.

During April of 2020 and 2021, Jozy served as an Ambassador of Hope for Haiti’s successful Hike for Haiti virtual campaign focused on fundraising for Hope for Haiti’s education and health programs. The month-long challenge centers around physical activity to simulate the 200 flight of stair daily journey that students in Marre à Coiffe, Haiti take to school each day.

Following that experience, Jozy and his wife, Sloane Stephens, deepened their relationship with Hope for Haiti through the construction of a new school block  and soccer field in the partner community of Boisrond. After the project was designed in early 2021, a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake directly hit the impact area in southern Haiti, affecting Hope for Haiti staff, partners, and all 24 partner communities -- including Boisrond, where the existing school blocks and school garden were damaged. Never content to sit on the sidelines, Jozy worked with us to widen the scope of the project to include damage and engineering assessments, support for the school garden, as well as reconstruction/rehabilitation of the entire school. Construction began in Spring 2022, and is expected to be completed in Fall 2022, allowing nearly 300 students to return to school in brand new classrooms after an especially challenging year. The project will also provide teachers at the school with critical financial support and training, ensuring Haiti's leaders of tomorrow are taught by the best today.

Jozy is proud to be a founding member of LeBron James’ More Than A Vote campaign focused on fighting voter suppression throughout the country and educating, energizing, and protecting Black voters.
